The Story Report

Message From Kashonia

Hello

First of all, I had a wonderful and very beautiful response to Tabs-sie’s request for help.  Some of the stories I heard were very heartening indeed.  And we (Tabs-sie and I) “met” so many new feline friends.

Our thanks go out to every member of the very special Raising Love Consciousness family that it’s my privilege to write to each week.

Until a few days ago we’d had nearly 3 weeks of NO sun at all here.  Just continuous drizzly, misty, rain.  Really quite miserable. But then that's what I get for living in the clouds.

However, for the last 3 days the sun’s been out and there’s not been a cloud to see anywhere.  And weather like this here is magnificent - absolutely perfect.  It brings the birds and the butterflies out, and I am so blessed to live in what looks like a parkland, on days like this.

And one of the main reasons that I give you the weather report was to also add that with the sunshine, Tabs-sie has been having a wonderful time.

She's now running all over the place. She’s been climbing trees, and playing in the garden, and she’s even started to join Monte Airedale and I when we go on our afternoon walk.  She’s looking wonderful.

She’s even been giving me presents.  Like the VERY BIG snake skin that she obviously found in the garden when I wasn’t watching, that she brought in for me and put beside my bed.  YUK - and other similar expletives!  But as my Mum always used to say “It’s the thought that counts” : - )

Love

Teleseminar/Webcast - News

So that I can keep catching up on my writing and complete Embracing 2012 – Part 2 – The Stories and The Preparation, and also my much awaited 6 week workshop Embracing 2012: The Journey Begins,  I decided to stop the weekly teleseminars until mid May. It will be here before we know it.

I hope you don't mind.  But the benefits in me doing that will be there in the long run.

This week I’m sending out another mob of invitations to various interesting speakers and so all being well, I should know more about dates and speakers by the next edition of The Story Report.

FEATURE ARTICLE

"Stress: The Portrait of a Killer " and the Great Shift of 2012

I saw an excellent documentary on TV during the week called Stress: The Portrait of a Killer.  It was originally broadcast on America’s PBS TV about 18 months ago, so you might have already seen it.

But if you haven’t seen it, you do have an opportunity to see it on your computer until about April 20th.  The link is
http://www.abc.net.au/iview/?WT.svl=services#/program/542995

You can also buy a copy of the DVD of the program from
http://www.shoppbs.org/product/index.jsp?productId=3325754

Briefly, it talks about the life’s work of Stanford neurobiologist Professor Robert Sapolsky who travels to Africa each year to compare the affects of stress on baboons with the affects of stress on humans.  Throughout the program other researchers are also interviewed, adding other fascinating insights.

3 Major Things That I Learned

Whilst I learned so much from the program, the top three insights, in reverse order were these.

1.  The physical affects on our bodies of stress.  Some obvious ones that I was well aware of include exhaustion, depression, clogged arteries and so the increase in the likelihood of stroke and heart attack.  Others were not so obvious to me, like an increase in diabetes.  And yet others I’d not even considered such as an increase in immovable weight around the lower part of the torso.

2.  The second point could probably be linked to the first, but to me it was so serious and significant that I wanted to give it a number all of it’s own.  Continued stress, continues to decrease the size of the telomeres, which are the little caps at each end of our DNA strands that stop them fraying – for want of a very simple description.  The deal with stress is that it is not the severity of the stress, as much as the continuation or length of time that we are experiencing the stress.  And obviously, if the stress is severe and continues over years and years, then it's definitely a life shortener.

3.  However. the insight that really excited me and inspired me came from one of the stories told on the program.

Very early in his research, Professor Sapolsky recognized the culture of the baboons.  There’s the head male and then the lesser adult males, all of whom treated the females and the young very badly.

Anyway, at one time the top males went into a camp where humans had discarded contaminated food.  All the top and lesser males ate the food and they all died.  This left the troop in total disarray because what had been the backbone of their culture, the role models for the way they were to live their lives, was now gone.

So the females and the remaining young males continued with their lives the way they always had.  This included constant grooming of each other.  Friendly play.  And taking care of each other without the fear of constantly being reprimanded or attacked by the top ego-centric males.

As the years went on, the young males grew into adults.  But because they hadn’t had the original attacking, abusive, and ego-centric male role models, they continued their life as happy, loving, and caring males to everyone in the troop, including the females and young - just as they had been taught by their mothers when they were growing up.

And if any alpha males from other troops attempted to join their troop with their abusive ways, the males in this friendly troop would send them on their way.  As if to say, if you act that way you’ve not welcome here.  That is not how we live our lives.

WOW – it was amazing and so beautiful.

As Sapolsky highlighted, it demonstrated that an entire culture can change within the same generation.

Now to the Great Shift

It doesn’t take Einstein to work out the point I’m going to make here.  But I’ll make it in any case.

The only thing that's certain about the so-called Great Shift that is currently occurring is that those people, throughout the world, who are open to the shift and do what's necessary, will definitely experience a rise in consciousness.

And the story of the baboons gives us an idea of what our new world of higher consciousness could well be like.  The story demonstrates that a change in attitude to a peaceful, caring, and compassionate society can indeed occur within our same generation.   It also demonstrates what a beautiful life we have waiting for us on the other side, if we choose to set the intention and prepare.

Oh and as a postscript to point 2 above about the shrinking telomeres.  The good news is that we can reverse this telomere deterioration with love and laughter.  I used to teach laughing classes and laughing is the antidote to so many of our physical, mental, and emotional challenges.  It was for that reason that when I launched Raising Love Consciousness last year, it was originally called The Learning Loving and Laughing Project.

About Kashonia

I'm a moral and environmental philosopher, and now work exclusively through the Internet from my home in the mountains in rural Far North Queensland in Australia.  That's up in the pointy end on the North Eastern side of Australia

At the age of 15, in 9th grade, I left school.  And in the years that followed, I caught wild donkeys in the outback; was Australia's 1st female oil company representative; set up and ran a couple of my own small businesses; and spent 14 years as a talk-back broadcaster on capital city, commercial radio stations around Australia.

Throughout most of that time I was also a speaker and trainer.

At the age of 40, I began my formal academic journey as a 1st year undergraduate student, ending up with 5 university degrees including a PhD.  Three of my post-graduate degrees were done concurrently so I could get on to my PhD - ASAP.

My multi-disciplinary doctoral thesis is titled ". Heart-Centred Virtue Ethics: Raising Ecological Consciousness in Organisations.

I now realize that my life's-journey's twists and turns, over the past 30+ years, have been preparing me for this very special time on our planet.
This preparation has been in the form of miraculous and not so pleasant life experiences; a range of specialized work skills; and an incredibly extensive, and diverse, range of personal, professional, and academic training.

Last year the Universe led me to a totally unexpected situation where I now find myself researching, in depth, all I can on the stories about 2012, and the beginning of our new world era.

This research has rapidly moved me from an open-minded skeptic to a firm believer in a change greater than any of us can possibly imagine.
